The forecast of increased supply ofnickel matte from Tsingshan caused nickel prices to fall sharply on Thursday.The new process being used however could tighten nickel pig iron (NPI)supply, Kallanish notes.
倫敦金屬交易所三個(gè)月期鎳周四跌幅高達(dá)8.5%,報(bào)15,945美元/噸,創(chuàng)2016年12月以來最大盤中跌幅。上海期貨交易所主力6月鎳合約收盤下跌6%,報(bào)130,510元/噸(20,180.61美元/噸),創(chuàng)2020年5月以來最大盤中跌幅。
Three-month nickel on the LondonMetal Exchange dropped as much as 8.5% to $15,945/tonne on Thursday, reachingits biggest intraday loss since December 2016. The most-traded June nickelcontract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange ended 6% lower at CNY130,510/t ($20,180.61/t), posting its biggest intraday loss since May2020.
中國(guó)民營(yíng)鎳和不銹鋼生產(chǎn)商青山集團(tuán)3月1日與華友鈷業(yè)和中偉公司簽署了高锍鎳供應(yīng)協(xié)議,并于3月3日公布了該協(xié)議。根據(jù)協(xié)議,自2021年10月起一年內(nèi),青山集團(tuán)將向華友鈷業(yè)供應(yīng)6萬(wàn)噸高锍鎳,并向中偉公司供應(yīng)4萬(wàn)噸相同產(chǎn)品。
Chinese private nickel and stainlesssteel producer Tsingshan Group signed a high-matte nickel supply agreement withHuayou Cobalt and Zhongwei on 1 March and announced the deal on 3 March.According to the agreement, Tsingshan will supply 60,000 tonnes of high-mattenickel to Huayou Cobalt within one year from October 2021 and provide 40,000tof the same product to Zhongwei.

Tsingshan was the first company toproduce NPI from nickel laterite ores. Now it is taking NPI and furtherprocessing it to high-matte nickel products with a 75% nickel content. It saysit will adjust production of NPI and nickel matte according to market developments.

華友還參與了青山集團(tuán)在印尼鎳冶煉廠的投資。華友表示,該廠也將使用含鎳生鐵生產(chǎn)一些高锍鎳。
Huayou also participated withTsingshan in the investment of a nickel smelter in Indonesia. Huayou said itwould also produce some high matte from nickel pig iron.

The announcement has meanwhilealleviated market concerns about the shortage of battery-grade nickel supply.''Tsingshan's mass production of nickel matte triggered a supply-sideadjustment. The supply bottleneck for nickel sulphate has been broken. There’slimited room for nickel prices to increase,'' Huatai Futures says in anote.
為了滿足動(dòng)力電池對(duì)鎳的需求,青山集團(tuán)于2020年7月開始在印尼試生產(chǎn)高锍鎳,并于去年年底正式投產(chǎn)。隨著更多設(shè)施在印尼投產(chǎn),青山集團(tuán)的目標(biāo)是在2021年生產(chǎn)60萬(wàn)噸含鎳當(dāng)量,2022年生產(chǎn)85萬(wàn)噸,2023年生產(chǎn)110萬(wàn)噸。
In order to meet demand for nickelfor power batteries, Tsingshan began trial production of high-matte nickel inIndonesia in July 2020, and saw formal production begin at the end of lastyear. With more facilities commissioned in Indonesia, Tsingshan aims to produce600,000t of contained nickel equivalent in 2021, 850,000t in 2022 and 1.1million tonnes in 2023.
